Project Location

Joseph City is in Navajo County along the I-40 and south of Navajo Nation. Joseph City is a small town with a of population approximately 2,000 people. Joseph City Wash flows through town from North to South, passing under the I-40 and the BNSF railroad, where the Joseph City wash confluences with the Little Colorado River. Joseph City is in close proximity to a coal power plant, the Cholla Power Plant.

The location for the flooding risk is south of the I-40
and west of Cholla Power Plant. The Little Colorado River
lies South of the site and the Joseph City Wash is directly 
east of the site.

The project location is in northeastern Arizona in Navajo County. Joseph City lies along the I-40, east of Flagstaff and Winslow.

Within Joseph City, the actual area with flooding is directly east of the Joseph City Wash. This area encompasses residential developments that are within the FEMA 100-yr floodplain designation. The Joseph City Wash flows north to south, and the Little Colorado River flows east to west.
