project impacts

The implementation of the final design provides an overwhelmingly positive impact on the Joseph City community. The final design is a worthwhile investment for Navajo County and Joseph City as it mitigates future flooding, reducing the economic toll from flood damage and the emotional toll of displaced residents. The final design will negatively impact the environment during the construction process introducing potential pollutants along with the petroleum waste produced by using the RPE liner. The final design will require volunteers to deploy the liner, which is a limiting factor as it relies on the community. However, the final design will introduce a new green space, proposed to be a garden, providing an area for citizens to engage with one another. This garden can also be utilized for environmental education and additional food sources.
