Project Constraints
Competition Rules:
During all phases of the project, the team must ensure all rules for the competition are followed and all requirements are met.
Given Alternatives:
While determining the best alternative for secondary treatment, the competition requires the evaluation of two options for plants 4 and 5. The first alternative is to modify the existing oxidation ditches to handle an increased capacity but without changing their footprint. Included in this alternative is the evaluation of two conventional activated sludge treatment techniques. The second alternative is the evaluation of adding a sixth plant to the facility.
Tightened Schedule:
The final report for the competition is due March 28th, 2025. This will require that all design work and analysis be completed in early March, which is a tighter schedule for design than many other capstone projects.
