Deck Design

The bridge deck has a total width of 16 ft which is divided into four pre-stressed concrete slabs. These pre-stressed slabs place the deck into camber to offset deflection from loading. This allows for longer spans with less material. Barrier walls and railings are placed on each side of the deck to prevent travelers from falling off the bridge. The fourteen foot area between the barriers is subdivided by a stripe down the centerline: 6 feet for pedestrians and 8 feet for bicyclists.
