Alignment |
The alignment of the bridge began by developing conceptual alternatives. From these, the best suited path was chosen because it avoided utilities and required the least amount of fill. Curves were designed to accommodate a design speed of 20 mph, which consisted of a minimum radius of 90 ft. The two spans consisted of lengths of 45 ft and 38 ft. The total length of the project was 400 feet which includes room for all path alignment as well as structural components. The fill on the north side of the path begins at the edge of the existing path. The path is returned to natural grade on the south side a distance of 139.5 ft from the edge of the roadway. The connecting pathway to the spans have a grade of 1:12 slope followed by the placement of a 5 ft flat landing section. The north span is placed with a 6.25% grade in accordance with ADA standards. The south span has a 0.5% slope to allow precipitation to flow off the deck. |
