As part of the engineering curriculum, design 4 practice offers a hand-on learning experience through the use of design projects. The culmination of these courses is the senior design class of capstone. Teams work with a client to design, analyze and build a prototype design project.

For our capstone project our team will be designing a human powered vehicle to compete in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Human Powered Vehicle competition. For this project the team will design, analyze and construct a vehicle to take to competition. Throughout the semester the group will write reports and make presentations on the project. These can be found below.
As part of NAU’s Mechanical Engineering progression plan it is required for students in their senior year to complete a design project. The design project is used to demonstrate and apply all of the knowledge gained through our years in the engineering program. Our team selected the ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge as our design project. Go to this page to find out more about the ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge.
