Project Description

The objective of this project is to improve or redesign the industrial wastewater pretreatment system currently in place at the Joy Cone factory in Flagstaff, Arizona. The factory has been exceeding the concentration limits of several industrial pollutants regulated by their pretreatment permit with the City of Flagstaff, and wishes to improve their current treatment system. The Factory produces 5.58 million ice cream cones per year, and the pollutants in their wastewater derive from the discharge stream of the water used to clean their batter transportation lines. Honeycomb Engineering Inc. has been working closely with Joy Cone to design a treatment system that focuses on removing these pollutants through a combination of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes with the goal of reducing pollutant concentrations to or below regulatory limits.
