JOYCONE CAPSTONE
2022-2023
INDUSTRIAL PRETREATMENT DESIGN
Brief Description
The project is to design an effective industrial wastewater treatment system for the wastewater produced by the Joy Cone Factory in Flagstaff, Arizona. The factory produces 500,000 gallons of wastewater annually through the production of ice cream cones that is currently being treated by an existing treatment process located on site. The primary contaminants in the wastewater are total suspended solids (TSS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN). Honeycomb Engineering seeks to design an updated treatment system that reduces these pollutants to regulatory standards through a combination of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes.
