Final Design

Description:

Description: C:\Users\lwf5\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\W5LWGMPM\MC900232062[1].wmfOur capstone project is to design and build a working mobilization device for our client’s son, Lucca. Lucca is about one and a half years old right now and was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth. Because of the current sizes and costs of wheelchairs for toddlers on the market our client isn’t able to obtain one for her son. So Amy is requesting that our team create something that Lucca can use daily for a couple of years.

Requirements:

After our initial meeting and later meetings with our client we decided on this list of requirements of what our device needs to be:

·         Self propelled

·         Safe

·         Adjustable – to allow for the child’s growth

·         Light weight

·         Portable

·         Leg Rest – to prevent blood clotting in the legs

Specifications:

From our list of requirements we made some specifications that we need to meet on our design. The specs are as follows:

·         Self propelled – Yes or No

·         Safe – restraints/harnessing and some sort of anti-tipping device

·         Adjustable – seat depth adjustable by 4 inches

·         Light weight – weigh less than 20 lbs.

·         Portable – needs to be foldable or have removable parts

·         Leg Rest – leg rest position either parallel or perpendicular to the ground
