I was born in Prescott, AZ. My mom is a high school math teacher, so growing up I was always surrounded by math and sciences. I knew that I wanted to study science or engineering in school and after talking with a couple of my cousins who are engineers, I decided to get a degree in mechanical engineering.
When I study and become an engineer, I can incorporate my two favorite subjects of math and science into one career, which is ideal. Also, I chose to become an engineer, because I have learned that engineers help better communities. Community service is important to me and I want to help the community in which I live. I know that engineers design projects that help communities in different ways, and I would like to be a part of that. I would like to give back to and help those who need it.
I recently just finished an internship working for Arizona Public Services (APS) at Redhawk power plant this past summer as a mechanical engineering intern. My duties included designing a system that stopped the oil from leaking into the hydrogen-cooled generator, walking down Pipe & Instrumentation Diagrams, and working with contractors and a mentor on issues that arose during the summer.
