System Testing and Analysis Procedure

As this project is entirely simulation based, our software modeling tools played a crucial role in testing the viability of our distribution system design. The following page contains a majority of the analyses performed by our interdisciplinary team, however, for more information about the financial and structural analysis, please visit our mechanical engineering teammates project website here.

Electrical System Impact Analysis

Many metrics must be considered when implimenting a photovoltaic system into a previously established distribution system to ensure compatibility and safety. Such metrics include over-voltage analyses, node isolations, service drops, base kV missmatches, transmission phase shifts, and much, much more. Informed by data provided by the mechanical engineering team's work in other modeling and simulation software, our OpenDSS model did the majority of the heavy lifting required to obtain this data.

  • Base kV Missmatches
Blank report, indicating no base voltage missmatching.
  • Isolated Elements
Report displays all active elements, with empty lists for isolated and disconnected elements and networks.
