Teams competing withing the Solar District Cup are required to submit two deliverable packets over the course of the competition. The first was due in December, and was used to select which teams would qualify for the final confrence in April. The final deliverable packet is due the week following the confrence and will decide who the district finalists are as well as the competition winner and some more Specialized awards. The contents of both thee deliverable packets are described below.

First Deliverable Packet - Fall 2019

  • Conceptual System Design - proposed photovoltaic system layouts with accompanying spreadsheets for power production estimates
  • Distribution System Impact Analysis - includes irrafiance and load profiles, panel sizing, and control systems, as well as an OpenDSS power flow model incorporating all network elements of our assigned system
  • Financial Analysis - Twenty-year term power purchase agreement with an internal rate of return or $0 net present value
  • Development Plan - building and site plan including local ordinances, codes, and permitting

Second Deliverable Packet - Spring 2020

  • Conceptual System - implimentation of battery storage subsystem(s) including optimization, charge/discharge rate analysis, and an updated system results and description
  • Distribution System Impact Analysis - battery sizing justification and discription of adherance to any system regulations and specifications
  • Financial Analysis - financial model and narrative describing any changes we may have made to our previous PPA
  • Development Plan - building and site plan revision to include a creative implimentation of photovoltaic technologies and expand on previous plan
