Hobby Scale Dynamometer
Phase One: Problem Definition, Research Survey, Requirements and Specifications
Problem Definition
This phase allowed the team and client to come to a consensus regarding our mutual vision for the project.
Research Survey
After finalizing the problem definition process, the team then conducted research regarding the current state-of-the-art in dynamometer technology. We were not surprised to find the field dominated by large industrial scale equipment. The team learned ofthe standard practices employed by these large dynamometers and were confident that the techniques could be applied to a smaller form-factor. Given that the our device is to be hobby-scale, the team reseached consumer-grade components that, when combined, would provide the functionality of a industrial dynamometer at a smaller scale.
Requirements and Specifications
After coming to a consensus with the client regarding their design needs and the team becoming familiar with the state of the art in dynamometer technology, the team wrote the requirements and specifications which was subsequently (after some discussion) approved by the client.
