Re: Status Report #1
The
progress made by GM3 since our last is as follows: GM3 has come up with several ideas
for solving the design problem. Rough
drawings of these designs have been made and are attached to this document
for your review and feedback. Our
goals are to focus on one or two designs that you believe could satisfy
the design requirements as listed in the Proposal document and develop these
designs. Once a design is chosen,
mathematical analysis on the design will begin and a prototype will be constructed
for testing. Redesign and secondary
prototype construction will commence following failure testing if deemed
necessary.
The
current designs we are working on include an adaptation of the existing
Wired Bliss Cam design, a design hybrid we are tentatively calling a Wide-Track
Bi-Cam, a totally new crack spanning design that works like an umbrella,
and a simple anti-walking device that could be added to any existing cam. The last three designs are described with the
technical drawings attached to this status report. Due to the recent four-week winter break, the
project has fallen slightly behind the original schedule proposed which
is attached to this document. We
plan to be back on schedule shortly.
