Testing

To test our design, we will first construct the circuit on a breadboard. Our sponsor has provided us with a 20 hp three-phase linear induction motor that we mounted on a dynamometer provided by Dr. Ciocanel in the mechanical engineering department. Our testing methodology is designed to assess functionality of the circuit by measuring torque, rpm (revolutions per minute), current draw, voltage and temperature. Testing will begin with low voltage which will be increased as more load is applied to the motor. The results will be used by our sponsor to design a scaled up version of our circuit to power a 75 hp motor.
