Carbon credits are great and all, but at the moment, they are not profitable enough for the land developers due to the fact that the trees take several years to grow until they reach maximum carbon uptake levels. The other issue with the current system for development is that it is not easy for land devlopersto plan out what areas are going to be the most profitable for them. Our Sponsor, Dr. Allie Shenkin, has implemented a system already to predict carbon uptake levels of certain reforestation plots. The issue with this is that it runs on Google Earth, because of this it is incredibly slow and not feasibile for large data sets.
