First proof of concept for our aircraft. Constructed from popsicle sticks, hot glue, and paper. We wanted to test if our airfoil could generate enough lift which we discovered it could not and changed airfoils.
Prototype 1
First full scale prototype with no control surfaces. This prototype was constructed with motors and the propeller for the final aircraft and more light weight materials like cardboard, heat shrink wrap, and hot glue. From this we realized we needed more sturdy materials for prototyping in order to get off the ground.
Prototype 2
Last prototype of fall semester, with the addition of control surfaces. We wanted to test how the control surfaces impact flight. Unfortunately we were unsucessful at leaving the ground due to poor coverage from Monokote.
Prototype 3
Created a new prototype using foam board and shrink wrap. Reiterated on landing gear as our new design broke during a teakeoff attempt.
Prototype 4
Last prototype to date, Added control surfaces to the foam to increase lift and controllability. Experimented with angle of attack and steerability. Still no successful flights.
