The 2023 Mechanical Engineering Collegiate Wind Competition team is comprised of ten team members, as well as a faculty advisor and a graduate student mentor. The team comes from various backgrounds and each member provides a unique skillset that contributes to the overall succes of the project.

My name is Justin Semchak and I am the turbine design lead for NAU’s CWC team this year. My passion lies in design and development, and I plan on working in a competitive industry to accelerate my learning post-graduation. I would like to be an aerodynamicist working with aircraft, or high-performance vehicles. I love downhill mountain biking, motorsports, and CAD design and hope to incorporate these hobbies into my future career.
I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student at NAU. My interests in the engineering field include Renewable Energy and Construction. I enjoy working on “hands-on” projects, but also am capable of research and design projects such as the 2023 CWC Project Development Competition. I am from Canada, and enjoy playing guitar, hockey and snowboarding.

After graduation my big dream is to work in the Formula One industry, but before doing that Renewable Energy world, especially Wind Industry are my main goal. I am a mechanical engineering major and a member of the turbine design team. My responsibility for the capstone competition is to design the pitch system. After graduation, my plan is to work in the aerospace/ aeronautical or automotive industry, along with taking over the family business.
