Our team's goal is to create a machine that is able to recycle filament waste produced by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D Printers. Wastes include structure supports, rafts, brims, failed prints, and more. The reason for PLA & ABS plastics were chosen for recycling is because they are thermoplastics; meaning they can be reheated several times with little change their molecular strucure.
The Fila(men) have completed manufactoring and testing the filament recylcer. Currently the project will be left with the NAU Mechanical Engineering Department.
