Team Information

Holden Chapin (hmc225@nau.edu)

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Minor: Mathematics and Physics

Project Roles: Secretary, Main Document Submitter

Originally from Chicago, and half raised in the Phoenix area, I have had a wide experience with different kinds of people and have learned how to work with people of all types. I have always had a passion for math and the sciences and wanted to pursue a career where I could apply my passions in a productive and innovative way. The kinetic sculpture project is a great way to implement the engineering and physics knowledge I have gained in my college career here at NAU.

Joshua Glenn (jtg229@nau.edu)

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Minor: Mathematics

Project Roles: Website Developer, Document Manager, Enforcer

I was born in 1997 in Glendale AZ, from the time I was able to learn new skills I found myself transfixed in music and martial arts. I have worked to perfect these skills through my life and, now, play six different instruments (saxophone, flute, guitar, bass, drums, and piano) and am a "professional" martial artist with over 15 years of experience. In my free time, I also enjoy snowboarding and skateboarding and have begun to learn gymnastics in which to implement into my martial arts performances. I look forward to completing this project and being able to use my artist mindset that I have gained throughout the years and combine it with the engineering knowledge I have learned in college.

Dylan Lovato (dl738@nau.edu)

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Minor: Mathematics

Project Roles: Project Manager, Client Contact

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. After the third grade, I moved to California. It was two years after moving that I received my first guitar. Ever since then, I have been sculpting my artistic mind. After my freshman year of high school, I moved back to Arizona. My new high school offered engineering courses. This was the beginning of my engineering growth.
As an engineering student, I am believed to be left brained. However, I have been playing guitar for more than half my life. This duality allows me to be creative and methodical in my approach. Kinetic sculptures are not only pieces of art, they are engineering feats. So, this project will showcase my two greatest strengths.

Jonathan Walgren (jw2232@nau.edu)

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Minor: Mathematics

Project Roles: Budget Liaison, Main Solidworks Designer, 3D Printer

My name is Jonathan Walgren and I have lived most of my life in Lake Havasu City. There my family owns a machine shop where I worked and spent a lot of time learning the mechanics behind how mills and lathes operate. This is when I started my path to engineering. In high school I took 4 years of architectural design which cumulated with me becoming a certified architectural drafter through ADDA. I also competed in cross country and track throughout high school, competing on the varsity team and eventually leading our team to the state competition. I then moved to flagstaff to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering through NAU. I hope to use my life experience to help bring our kinetics sculpture project to life.
