W.L. Gore Capstone

W.L. Gore and Associates is a leading, worldwide company for technology-driven solutions. They launched with an innovative cable insulation solution using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and have since expanded into industrial, fabrics, and bio-medical applications. As the sole sponsor and stakeholder for this project, W.L. Gore and Associates has graciously provided $3,000 to go toward all materials and processes to design and manufacture an artificial calcified blood vessel. To date, this fund has allowed the team to perform extensive prototyping to determine manufacturing processes and materials, and purchase equipment for testing and statistical analysis. Gore has also provided a team of engineering mentors who have helped the team set and accomplish relevant goals to the project, and approach and solve applied engineering problems.
