Milestones
The milestones represented by diamonds (completed milestones are filled in) are important events that portray points in the project where a fundamental step forward has been achieved.
Client Meetings: We met with our client contacts Michael McConnell and Mitchell Thune to discuss progress with the project, as well as, discuss potential problems and to receive feedback on ideas that are generated.
Problem Definition and Project Plan: We presented the definition of the project, as well as, a few specifics to Dr. Kosaraju. Some of the concepts that went into this presentation included goals, objectives, and constraints while illustrating both the House of Quality and QFD.
Concept Generation and Selection: With this milestone, we completed all our preliminary decision matrices for the initial design. We created a functionality diagram to establish all the aspects of the design that we need to include, and then proceeded to present the decision matrices and their results.
Proof of Concept: This milestone marks when we completed proof of concept prototypes in order to illustrate that we could both create a magnetic field using a solenoid and take approximately 75microns of displacement and magnify it 1500%.
Project Proposal: In this milestone, we will formally propose to Dr. Kosaraju our design for this project.
Hardware Reviews: These milestones are to check the progress of the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of the device.
Midpoint Review: This milstone is the midpoint progress report and presentation.
Walkthrough Presentation: At this milestone a practice of the presentation for UGRADS is performed.
UGRADS Presentation & Report: This is the final presentation and report for the semester at UGRADS.
Operations Manual: On this date a manual for using the capstone device is due.
