Brief Description
Elk Ridge Ski and Outdoor Recreation Area, located in Williams, Arizona, is in need of a Senior Design team to design an adaptation or a new Poma Lift stick that accommodates both skiers and snowboards.
Currently, the designed Poma Lift stick is tailored to skiers where they have a support to sit on as they are towed up the lift line. This design provides much more support and comfort to skiers when compared to the support and comfort level of snowboarders. With the current design, snowboarders simply hold onto the pole, with their grip being the only support. This is due to their orientation on their boards. Snowboarders ascend the mountain perpendicular to the lift line while skiers ascend the mountain parallel to the lift line.
The goal of this team is to design a Poma Lift Stick that will accommodate both skiers and snowboarders to provide equal support and comfort as they ascend the mountain.
