Drawings and Modeling Screenshots
Below is a list of the drawings and screenshots
of the CAD models generated with Solid Edge. Click

- Design Concept 1: Slanted Housing - Design concept where
boards were set at an angle in order to achieve the reduced head height.
- Design Concept 2: Slanted Module - Slanted design concept
incorporating modular design with one pair of boards in each module.
- Design Concept 3: Motherboard - Design concept incorporating
a motherboard that replaced one on the cards from each pair. This allowed for much
more generous spacing between boards.
- Design Concept 4: Back to Back - Design concept placing each
pair of boards on the same plane and butted together.
- Design Concept 5: Two Stacks - Initial design concept later
changed to 3 Stacks since all overhead cable strain was removed, allowing for much more
head height.
- Final Design Choice: View 1 - Overall housing view from
front. Note: each panel is secured to the main housing with 4-40 socket head cap screws
and secured to the bulkhead of the vehicle with 8-32 socket head cap screws.
- Final Design Choice: View 2 - View from front with front
panel removed. Notice the card-locs utilized to secure the boards to the housing
- Final Design Choice: View 3 - View from rear of housing
with back panel removed to demonstrate ease of access to flex cable connections.
- Final Design Choice: View 4 - View of main housing piece.
Note the slots where card-locs will be utilized to secure each board to the housing
- Final Design Choice: View 5 - View from rear of housing
showing simulated flex cable connecting the two housing halves. (The back
panel has been set to transparent to aid visibility)
