Main Components

Arduino Uno picture LCD picture
  • Arduino Uno
  • Microcontroller that supports the project is required .

  • LCD
  • This is a basic 16x2 character line display.

  • Light Sensor
  • A sensor that determines the reflectivity of the surface below it.

  • Distance Sensor
  • A sensor that reads the distance of an object within a range of 20cm - 150cm.

  • Touch Sensor
  • It is a 35mm concave momentary push button.

  • Rotation Sensor
  • Based on multi-turn precision potentiometer. It can rotate upto 10 laps. The voltage can be subdivided into 1024 copies.

Programming and Testing

April 21, 2011:

The team is currently finalizing the project by compiling the components for the prototype. This prototype will include all sensors, a motor, and the build system. The team is also working on documentation, which is essentially a user's manual for this robotics kit.

February 14, 2011:

The team is currently designing and prototyping a connector system for the electronic components. The system includes the connection from the motor, sensors, and LCD to the controller.

Also the team is working in creating a C Library of useful functions that the EGR 286 students can use while programming the controller.

The team has connected and tested the LCD, motor, and sensors (light sensor, distance sensor, touch sensor).

Motors and Sensors
