Hello you've reached Team Solar Flares website! Thank you for visiting our site. Our team consists of three electrical engineering students attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Our project title is officially called Solar-Powered Laptop Battery Charger sponsored by Micron Technology. More information on our sponsor can be found under the Liaison link.
The reason to choosing this project from the beginning of the Fall Semester of 2001 was due to the challenge of actually charging a laptop battery using only solar power. Since most laptop battery chargers use an A.C. adapter which is readily available and not portable. But the concept of using solar energy and converting it to electricity seems very interesting and especially with implementing analog electrical parts to recharge laptop batteries.
