The Design/Development Process
The development process we will use for this project will
be a combination of the incremental and waterfall methods. The
design process will be incremental in that we will start with
the basic Doc reader and add features as time permits. The design
process will use the waterfall method because, for each feature
added, we will analyze what is to be done, and design the feature
so it integrates into our overall design. Then we will write the
code in modular form, and then we will thoroughly test it.
The project deliverables that we will be composing will document
everything from our design and coding standards to our final
software. We will create our deliverables using Word 97 and convert
them to Rich Text Format (.rtf). Then we will e-mail them as an
attachment to Dave Eaton, our project sponsor, and Stuart Wecker,
our instructor. Once we start programming later in the project, we
will provide weekly code snapshots to our sponsor as detailed in the
original project description and we will also provide updates of the
program when new features are completed.
