Envisioned Solution

What the experience looks like when we’re done.

Problem → Opportunity

Wayfinding

Casual users struggle to find targets in unfamiliar areas.

Onboarding & UI

Buttons/flows aren’t consistent; first-time use isn’t obvious.

Content Coverage

Points of interest are concentrated locally in Flagstaff; scaling beyond one city is limited.

Solution Overview

  • Live Map + GPS: show user location, mission pins, and route hints.
  • Polished, Accessible UI: consistent components, clear primary actions, short first-run tour.
  • Overpass + Wikidata ingestion: automatically source nationwide POIs from open data APIs and refresh on a schedule.

Workflow

  1. Community Booking: schedule a session and pick a mission pack.
  2. Preparation: review safety notes and gear list; assign roles; prompt users with liability waiver.
  3. Execution: navigate via live map; complete prompts at POIs.
  4. Reflection: post-run debrief; share feedback while the automated POI feed keeps coverage current.

Scope & Non-Goals

In Scope

  • Core navigation experience (map, pins, route hints).
  • UI refresh of key screens and flows.
  • Automated POI ingestion & filtering (Overpass + Wikidata).

Out of Scope

  • Manual POI submission portals or reviewer queues.

Success Criteria

  • New users complete a first mission without guidance.
  • Time-to-target is reduced vs. baseline.
  • ≥80% positive feedback on UI clarity and map usefulness.
  • Nationwide POI coverage live via Overpass/Wikidata sync.
