Many people think that unless you are very young learning a new language is hard, but it's not. What is hard is putting in the large amount of time and practice that it takes to become proficient.
This project is designed to make language learning more engaging and effective by integrating gamification and data-driven learning. We hope to improve upon existing language databases by implementing a project with a web interface where English language learners can access audio corpora to search for words and short phrases, listen to them in context, and practice their pronunciation.
To motivate learners to engage with the platform regularly, gamified elements such as points, activity tracking, and visualization will be incorporated. These features will provide learners with a sense of competition and reward when they meet their goals, encouraging them to continue their learning journey.
The project's ultimate goal is to provide learners with a user-friendly platform where they can log in, search for words, listen to audio recordings, record themselves, and compare their speech to the corpus speech using simple playback tools. By leveraging gamification and audio corpora, this project aims to make language learning more engaging, effective, and accessible to learners of all ages and backgrounds.
