Development Methodology

waffle.io

Team Strata used the agile development process, more specifically we applied Scrum to our capstone project. Scrum is an agile methodology well suited for projects whose requirements change frequently. Software development progresses through iterations known as sprints and these sprints can last from anywhere between one to four weeks. The image above shows the task manager our team used to keep track of all the tasks that needed to be completed for the project. The task manager we used is called Waffle.io and it syncs with Github repositories in order to create the scrum board for the project. The backlog section contains all the tasks that need to be completed and/or assigned to team memembers. The ready column contains the tasks that need to be worked on in the next sprint, and the in-progress column contains all the tasks being worked on in the current sprint. We would have weekly team meetings in order to discuss the tasks completed after each bi-weekly sprint and any difficulties our team had encountered.

Project Shedule

On the left is a project schedule table for the project that contains all the tasks we will complete during the full development cycle. Our tasks are divided into four current categories that include Research/Design, Coding, Testing, and Documentation.

The first semester will focus on the research and design of the project. During this task we will be required to write at least two versions of a requirements document that will serve as a contract between Team Strata and the sponsor. The coding task will involve three phases and will occur during the second semester of capstone. In the first phase our team will focus on implementing the preprocessing of the Hi-res input images.
