About Our project

The full title of the NAU Fall 2018 Capstone Project is Habitat for Humanity Affordable Site Design in Flagstaff, Arizona. Our team, ABK, is tasked with designing a tiny home community within an 8-acre piece of land located near Sinagua Middle School. The design for the community is expected to include 45 tiny home units, a parking lot, and roadway entries.

Abdulrahim Abdullah

In every aspect in our lives we face problems and to every problem there is a solution. As a Senior at NAU, Abdulrahim loves the Civil Engineering major as they get to design and find solutions for real life problems. Abdulrahim chose this project due to their interest in surveying and design which was sparked by taking CENE 499. They are excited to work on the project for the client to produce a preliminary site design plan for the 45 affordable housing tiny homes for educators.

Anna Kurn

Anna is a senior environmental engineering student at Northern Arizona University, expected to graduate in Spring 2019. She currently works as a Project Intern at Loven Contracting and as a Teaching Assistant in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at NAU. She has developed leadership skills through serving on the board of Society of Women Engineers. Anna is interested in COmputer Drafting and modeling software for site designs and construction.

David Borja

David is a Senior Civil Engineering student at Northern Arizona University, expected to graduate in Spring 2019. He currently works as a Transportation Intern at HDR in Phoenix, AZ. David is interested in highway and roadway design. He has participated in several engineering-based clubs such as the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.'

Michael Bulriss

Michael studies Civil Engineering and Spanish as a part of the Global Science and Engineering Program at NAU. He spent the years 2017-2018 studying abroad at the University of Alicante in Spain. He is excited for the Habitat for Humanity Tiny Home community Capstone project because he would like to work in the construction industry and the project will be beneficial and applicable experience.
