The initial step of experimentation was the material preparation. The zero valent iron (ZVI) filings were soaked in DI water for 24 hours. The orange peels were cut, placed in a drying oven for 12 hours, blended, and then sieved to obtain the desired size.
The figure above shows the four bottles of ZVI filings used for the testing. The figures below show the various steps that went into the orange peel preparation.
The figure above shows the dried and blended orange peels that were retained on the #30 sieve. This was the selected size for the batch testing. Shown below is the final experimental matrix for the first batch, as well as the samples from the first batch prepared for shipping.
Once the results from the first batch were completed, the experimental matrix for the second batch was refined. The figures below show the completed experimental matrix for the second batch, the samples from the second batch prepared for shipping, and pictures from the batch testing conducted.

was completed, isotherm models were made
in order to analyze the results. For the
