PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For this capstone project, a team of four NAU students is collaborating with a Flagstaff-based nonprofit, Red Feather, to provide analysis and development of alternative home heating systems on the Navajo and Hopi Reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Currently, coal and wood stoves create a substantial amount of pollution. This creates a substantial health and safety risk for residents of inadequately ventilated homes and inhabitants of heavily polluted areas. Therefore, the team is devising a system that operates on renewable energy while remaining a cost effective and practical to implement solution.
