The maximum amount of power that can be produced by photovoltaic (PV) panels is strongly dependent on the tracking system that is being used. The conventional tracking systems are bulky, expensive and usually are constrained with tracking angle. The objective of this project is to design a light-weight yet reliable solar tracking technology. The prototype will be tested with existing fixed solar panels that are installed at NAU College of Engineering. Analyzing the Problem
The Sun changes position as the time changes throughout the day. The sun also changes position throughout the year. Determining when the sun is at a certain position is crucial to finding the optimal position of the solar panel.
