• Chouinard Equipment began in 1958 and went bankrupt in the 1980’sDecember 1, 1989 the former employees of Chouinard Equipment started Black Diamond.
• It is the first employee-owned company in the climbing industry.
• It is based out of Salt Lake City.
• The company is a large producer of Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, and Back Country Skiing Gear
  and distribute their products internationally.
