Development for Rural Sustainability has done testing and research on alternative waste management systems for a Masaai village in Lesoit, Tanzania. The team created a bio-digester and a bio-battery that used cow manure as a source to produce usable energy. Lesoit has roughly 15,000 head of cattle so there is plenty of manure to be used in these designs. An assessment trip will be conducted May 2015 to further investigate the possibilities of implementing these designs in the village.
Location
Lesoit is located in northeastern Tanzania, just south of the equator.
