Baja SAE Electrical Capstone Team

This site documents the low-voltage electrical system for NAU's 2026 Baja SAE off-road vehicle. Use the navigation bar to explore the design, implementation, and team behind the electrical subsystem.

Project Overview

Role of the electrical team

The Baja SAE Electrical team is responsible for the low-voltage system on NAU's Baja vehicle, including power distribution, protection, sensing, and the digital driver display. Our work supports the mechanical team's chassis and drivetrain design by providing reliable power and clear feedback to the driver.

Mission

What we are aiming for

Our mission is to deliver a simple, robust, and serviceable electrical system that keeps the driver informed, protects the vehicle, and meets Baja SAE rules without adding unnecessary complexity. The design emphasizes clear documentation, safe power distribution, and packaging that can withstand real off-road competition use.

Vehicle Context

How the electrical system fits in

The electrical system is designed in close coordination with the mechanical team so that harness routing, component placement, and service access all work with the chassis and drivetrain layout.
