About Project

Our project, sponsored by Jennifer Johnson of COBHAM, is to emulate 3D audio using stereo headphones. This is for the purpose of allowing people inside helicopters to easily differentiate where a voice is coming from, as well as eventually as allowing people in different aircraft to tell direction while communicating.

Our goals as follows:

1. We must emulate 3D audio using stereo headphones

2. This emulated audio must be accessible via a GUI, which will be integrated with the virtual audio software

3. If this is completed with time left over, we will port this solution onto hardware

Stuart Jackson

I am a senior Electrical Engineering student with an emphasis in electrical. I have experience working with embedded systems, and mixed signal design. I have worked extensively with FPGA’s, and have some experience with digital signal processing from my coursework. Most of my work so far has been designing processor hardware, but I’m hoping my DSP experience carries over well to this project.

Hangdi Hu

I am a senior Electrical Engineering student emphasizing in electrical. I like DSP and have experience applying it. I learned speech recognition before, and tried to build it on the FPGA. I also have experience in hardware design, and we will probably need a peripheral circuit in this project. I'm glad working with my teammates.

Maximillian Jones

I am also a senior studying Electrical Engineering emphasizing in Computer Engineering and I also go by, “Max" I have coding experience in Java, Python, and MATLAB. I also have a bit of experience working with microprocessors like Arduinos and the 86000. I am eager to work in this team to design and create instead of the everyday studying.

Anjun Zhang

I am a senior year student learning Electrical Engineering emphasizing in Computer Engineering. I have coding experience in Java, Python, MATLAB, and HTML. I’ve also working on PCB design and FPGA, but not very familiar. I’m very glad that I could play a role in the team and working together.
