Integration and Test Phase

A functioning protoype was created to act as a proof-of-concept and to perform various tests.

 

A stand was created to mount our prototype components:

The components were then added to the stand giving us the completed prototype:

 

Were able to successfully make the light turn on with a relay by using a Solid State Relay.


We were able to break the latch formed by the larger relay using a smaller relay and the microcontroller.


We were able to control the RFID reader with the Arduino Uno. When a card was placed over the reader, the Arduino was able to read the information from the card.


A breaker was added to our prototype as a safety precaution. If the prototype draws too much power, the breaker will disconect the prototype form the wall power. This amperage was chosen deliberately so that it gets thrown before any of the 20 A breakers in the testing building will be thrown.
