Present
About this Stage:
Throughout this project the team has had to present power points, and the course will conclude with our team presenting at UGRADS and submitting a health assessment to APS. Because of this the present section could be placed many times within our process. However, we decided that it is best to place it here after the create section; because we think giving the client our final report and presenting at UGRADS are the represent this section best.
Major milestone that took place in during brainstorming were:
For this section our team used Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel. Office was used for correspondence as well as writing the health assessment. PowerPoint was used for our group’s presentations. Lastly, Excel was used to add tables and spreadsheets to our presentations.
During this phase the team had to determine what format to use for our UGRADS poster presentation. We could choose to use supplied format, or create our own unique poster. In the end we decided the using an existing template, but modifying the colors would suffice. While this made out poster similar to others at the symposium, the tradeoff is that we had more time to focus on other areas of the class/project.
We did encounter one problem that was specific to the present portion of our design process. When creating the power points, some group members wanted to inject humorous slides in an attempt to make the presentation stand out and be less boring. This idea faced some criticism because the humor was not relevant to the topics being discussed, and lowered the professionalism of the report. The group compromised and decided together that if humor could be added to the presentations, but that it had to be relevant to what we were talking about, and had to be appropriate for a professional setting. This resulted in a presentation that was fun to give, enjoyable to the audience, and informative.
