General information about the EGR 286 Robotics Team and project.

Introduction

Students in the EGR 286 Design Processes class at Northern Arizona University (NAU) currently use the Lego RCX platform in order to design and prototype robots that achieve a specific task. This is part of NAU's learning outcomes as part of its ABET accreditation.

In order to evolve the learning experience in the class and reduce overall costs, the College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Sciences (CEFNS) has decided to explore the possibility of a custom, student-designed alternative to the Lego RCX platform. This system will be designed to allow the same creativity and customizability of the RCX, and will be sold as a kit.

EGR 286 Robotics Team will also be working with our sister Mechanical Engineering group, in order to benefit both groups.

Client

The College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Science has tasked the EGR 286 Robotics Team with developing the new robotics platform. They are responsible for the EGR 286 class. Our liaison within CEFNS is Dr. Tester. Our Faculty Advisor is Dr. Venkatramen.

Presentation Date
