The Sustainable Economic Development Initiative (SEDI) fosters economic opportunities in Coconino County, Arizona, that promote social equity, economic prosperity, and ecological health.
Sustainable economies provide the highest quality of life for their citizens. They are rooted in strong communities where there is respect for natural resources. They invest in educational resources and workforce preparation. They have strong, export-oriented companies and a diverse business mix.
SEDI focuses on six types of development where there are significant opportunities for sustainability. For each we have identified goals, strategies and action steps as well as additional resources and opportunities.
We would like to thank our sponsors from APS and CCSEDI for such an interdisciplanary project and for their help throughout the year. We would also like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Brauer for being our faculty advisor throughout the project. Last, we would like to thank Dr. Susan Williams and Dr. Dean Smith from NAU's Franke College of Business for their help in guiding us and providing us with information on the economics of renewable energy.
