The HLIC2000 is an prototype for an irrigation control system. Itwill be capable of communicating with the PC via the serial port of the PC. This link will allow for data transfer between the PC and the micro-controller of vital information, such as watering times, average temperatures and rainfall. The Micro-controller used is the MicroChip PIC16C73A. The HLIC2000 takes in information from a temperature sensor (LM35D) and calculates the time to water specific vegetation. It’s program is based on evapotranspiration, the concept that vegetation evaporate certain amount of moisture based on environmental factors. Based on the program the HLIC2000 will open the corresponding valve to water the given vegetation. The HLIC2000 also has a manual override system to allow the home-owner to troubleshoot the irrigation system.
