The Team
The PPF team consists of Noel Keen (pictured on the left) and Martin Casado (on right).
Both worked together during the summer of 1999 at LLNL where Noel Keen, who is a full
time employee of LLNL, acted as mentor to Martin who was interning. During the course
of the summer they worked together on a number of projects including:
- Shared memory parallelization of single dimensional transport slowdown problem.
- Using pthreads
- Using OpenMP
- Shared memory parallelization of the Implicit Monte Carlo (IMC) package written by Nick Gentile.
- Rudimentary domain decomposition (only 2 domains) of IMC package
Bios
Name:Martin Casado
Reason for Choosing Project: Over the summer I developed an interest for parallel computing
especially the parallelization of particle transport packages. As well, I really enjoy working on big
machines and with LLNL. Plus, working on the PPF may give me an excuse to head up to
the Bay Area so I can go play with Noel ;-).
Suggestions: Alaskan Snowshoe cocktails(1 shot Yukon Jack and 1 shot Rumplemintz) on
snowy days and of course looser accounts on StarCraft.
People Not as Good as Me at Half-Life: Rob Allred, Doug Stallman, Abe Pralle, Trent De'Hoodge, Anthony
