Solution

To acknowledge the lack of diversity in the BIO 201 curriculum, our goal is to develop an interactive web application that allows students to tailor their anatomical models to represent a range of body types and skin tones. This application’s goal is to facilitate a greater understanding of the material and foster inclusivity. Users are able to adjust body size, biological sex, and skin tone. Models are generated in real-time for users to reference in their studying of the material. Users are also able to take notes and once finished, they can export the model and/or notes to use offline.

Login Page

At the beginning of each semester, students will receive a unique access code from their instructors to access the application.

Model Customization

The application displays 3D models and educational content specific to NAU’s BIO201 unit curriculum. Models will be rendered on the user interface and allow users to utilize user interface elements in order to adjust features of their model.

This unique subunit page allows the students to visualize the posterior and anterior view on any given model that they have created.

Subunit: Planes of Sectioning

This unique subunit page allows the students to visualize the numerous planes of sectioning on the models that they create. This allows students to learn how different planes of sectioning look on various body types.
