WordScuffle is a word game in which players form crossed word combinations out of a set of 13 random letters. Players use letters each round to form combinations of down and across words which maximize their score for a given round.

WordScuffle's word play and social construction provides cognition-rich interaction that supports healthy brain function. This type of cognitive play is shown to reduce the hallmarks of degenerative brain disorders like dementia and Alzheimers.

BrainStim Studios is transforming the gameplay concepts of WordScuffle into a web-based game playable across different devices.

Technologies

Because a basic workflow for our application already exists we are relying on a Waterfall-style development cycle. We are meeting with our project sponsor bi-weekly to maintain a linear development cycle including:

1. Determining project requirements
2. Developing a basic functional prototype
3. With feedback from sponsor, building on basic functional prototype to gradually add functionality
4. Performing testing near end of development cycle
5. Addressing issues discovered during testing, then releasing
