23 February 2012:
Galaxy is looking more and more promising. We have installed Galaxy on our virtual machine to begin further evaluation. We are attempting to create an XML parser to convert tools from ISIS to Galaxy.
01 March 2012:
The tool builder for XML conversion isn't working as well as we had hoped. The two XML formats are similar, but there is enough variation between the individual tools to cause problems for automatic conversion. Instead we are focusing on manually converting enough tools for testing purposes.
22 March 2012:
A Tool Shed has been created using a separate Galaxy instance. This allows us to manage tools and data libraries. It is a repository, so things like version control and updates are already handled. Also, we have manually converted several tools to begin testing the capabilities of both Galaxy and the Tool Shed.
29 March 2012:
We set up a webserver and installed Galaxy and ISIS on it to use for further testing. One of the benefits of using Galaxy is that it is rendered in a web-browser, so it is very portable and can be run on a remote server to reach a broader audience.
