USGS uses a suite of software called ISIS for processing images recieved from NASA planetary missions. The 300 programs that makeup ISIS are combined in different ways to create workflows which assist Scientists in image analysis. Currently, the workflows are scripts written by hand, requiring an advanced knowledge of ISIS system. The USAT project is a unified interface that addresses the shortcomings of the current workflow process, while maintaining compatibility with existing ISIS system. A Graphical User Interface increases the usability of the system. This will help new users feel comfortable, along with the extensive help and documentation sections. The web based design alleviates current cross-platform limitations by opening the application in any web browser. Furthermore, there is greater potential to support varied user cases in the future, including mobile workflow creation and remote processing submission.
