ASCE 2015-2016 Concrete Canoe

Polaris

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) annually hosts a National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) in which engineering students have the opportunity to design, construct and race a concrete canoe. This project will include project management, hull design and analysis, concrete mix design, reinforcement use and construction methods. This year, the Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC) will take place from March 31st through April 2nd, 2016 at Californiat State University, Long Beach. See related links listed in the Sidebar.

The City of Flagstaff became the World's First International Dark Sky City on October 24th 2004 [1]. Because of our City's dedication to conserving night sky, it inspired the 2015-2016 concrete canoe name, Polaris, or the North Star often used for navigation.
