Welcome to the Northern Arizona University Senior Capstone 2015 Precast/Prestressed Institute Big Beam Contest Project website.

The purpose of the Big Beam contest is for Civil Engineering undergrad and graduate students to gain more knowledge about the precast/prestressed concrete industry. Students will design a beam under the competition’s rules that will be provided for the year. Each team must have a Industry Sponsor that will provide the materials, fabrication, testing and shipping for the beam. Civil Engineering students participating in this contest will be exposed to real experience in analyzing and testing prestressed/precast beams through application of their education.

The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is the competition host and therefore the client for the project. They will be reviewing the final design report at the end of the Spring 2015 semester.
